Attractions and Recreation in Philadelphia

As a major city, Philadelphia has it's share of cultural and historical attractions, museums and landmarks. A majority of the museums and landmarks are located in the Center City area.

• Museums - Museums and Historical sites: Philadelphia was a focal point in the war of independence.  It is the home of the Liberty Bell, Betsy Ross House, the Constitution Center as well as numerous other landmarks.  In addition there are dozens of cultural and scientific museums. 

• Landmarks - Philadelphia, because of its historic and economic history, has a number of landmarks.  One of the most striking is its Gothic French City Hall. 

• Parks - William Penn, the founder of Philadelphia, envisioned a 'green country town'.  The city was designed with several small parks strategically located.  In addition, the Fairmont park system runs along the Schuylkill  river.  In the Northeast Pennypack park provides hundreds of acres of recreation.  The city also has numerous smaller parks scattered throughout.

• Recreation - Things to do in Philadelphia: boating, fishing, tennis, golf and more.
